Syd Fini is an author-illustrator who lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife who is a puppet maker and painter.

Syd was born in Iran during the 8-year-long Iran-Iraq war and spent most of his time indoors drawing pictures from his favourite movies and animations. That sense of visual storytelling led him to start his career as a storyboard artist for feature films at the age of 18. He then continued directing animations and making graphic novels.

He works both digitally and with traditional paper and ink. He draws inspiration from dark and magical realism in literature; his visual style is moody and the scope of his compositions are very cinematic and grand.
